Welcome to the Gibraltar Training Centre’s webpage, our aim is to empower individuals to learn and become qualified in maintenance, construction, mechanical and electrical skills.
The Apprenticeship program is an undertaking which recognises the importance of ensuring high standards of training for our future workforce. The aim is to embed the apprentices with skills, knowledge, and confidence to start and be successful in their respective careers. We also aim to educate apprentices, so they are prepared to enter the industry with the correct work ethics. Each apprentice has signed an agreement clearly defining what is expected of them, this also extends when at placement companies.
The apprenticeships HMGoG offers are a full-time training opportunity, which includes qualifications, whilst earning a wage. The construction trades start at Level 1 with a City & Guilds Extended Certificate in Construction Skills, this is full time at the GTC. On successful completion candidates have the opportunity to progress to NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Maintenance, subsequently there are three separate pathways – Carpentry, Painting & Decorating and Wet Trades or Plumbing. Separately the programme also offers a NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations with two separate paths, either Electrical or Mechanical. On achieving their qualification apprentices can move forward to NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Maintenance specialising again, in either electrical or mechanical pathways. The Apprenticeship program is fully funded by HMGoG and the candidates receive a monthly wage throughout their training, including whilst at company work placements.
