A dynamic and thriving cultural community

The Ministry of Culture is committed to nurturing a vibrant and inclusive cultural landscape that reflects Gibraltar’s rich heritage. Our mission is to promote the arts, support cultural events, and encourage active community involvement through a variety of accessible and innovative programmes. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, as we work alongside local organisers and cultural entities to strengthen Gibraltar’s cultural offerings. We also place a strong emphasis on safety and sustainability, ensuring that cultural activities are well managed and designed for future generations.

In close partnership with Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS), we aim to make culture an integral part of everyday life in Gibraltar. Together, we support and celebrate local talent, helping to create opportunities for artistic expression and cultural engagement. Our shared goal is to safeguard Gibraltar’s cultural heritage while fostering a vibrant and evolving cultural scene for all.
Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS) is instrumental in shaping the cultural fabric of Gibraltar, organising key events and managing facilities that provide platforms for local artists, performers, and creators. GCS oversees some of Gibraltar’s most treasured cultural events, including National Day, Christmas Wonderland, and The Gibraltar Fair, which bring the community together and celebrate our unique identity. Public art installations and community workshops further ensure that culture is woven into the daily lives of our residents.

Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS)

Beyond events, GCS is dedicated to nurturing local talent through its Development Department, which manages cultural venues such as the John Mackintosh Hall Public Library and Gibraltar’s principal galleries. By offering educational outreach and providing opportunities for creative growth, GCS ensures that the arts remain accessible to all. GCS is also responsible for managing the Government’s Art Collection, preserving our artistic heritage for future generations.

GCS’s Facilities and Operations departments play a crucial role in maintaining cultural venues and ensuring they are fit for a diverse range of events. From performances to exhibitions and community gatherings, these spaces serve as cultural hubs for the people of Gibraltar. Through its efforts, GCS not only preserves but actively enhances Gibraltar’s cultural offerings, ensuring that the arts continue to thrive locally and internationally.
